                                   The New Smart Phones

A funny thing happened at the Verizon store. Everyone knows I love the Apple products, and it was a pretty safe bet that I’d find a way to get an Apple iphone on my calling plan. I like to keep an open mind, though, and the more I looked at the offerings, the more I liked the Motorola Droid X. I take a lot of pictures, and the 8 megapixel camera, not to mention the HD video – they really got my attention. I went for it, and now besides taking pictures, I’ve been having a great time loading up with great apps and getting connected to my email, calendar, Facebook, and of course, my Gorilla Gadgets Admin page. My wife thinks I made a big mistake, because the Samsung Fascinate that she got is a lot slimmer and lighter, but it’s just as fast and even has a few apps that my Droid doesn’t have. She calls mine ‘boxy’, while hers is ‘sexy’. Whatever. I refuse to get into name calling – even if she got a ‘girl phone’, haha.

The most amazing thing about these smart phones, though, is the way they really suck up the juice. I found myself feeling lucky to get through the day without having to recharge. That got the gorilla team wondering – “Why can’t we find some extended life batteries for these things?” And so we checked with our buddies over in Asia, and sure enough, we found some factories who could custom design extended-life batteries for all the most popular phones. Because the HTC Evo extended life battery is a little thicker, we also molded a new back for that phone that snaps on just like the original, only with the thicker battery inside. The new batteries have significantly more juice in them, so even with all the wi-fi connections, navigation, browser, and graphic intensive programs running, you can easily get through the day without running dry.

So when your contract comes up for renewal, or even if you just qualify for an upgrade, I encourage you to check out the smart phones. The technology has moved so far and so fast that the lines between a computer and a phone are getting thinner and thinner. With the extended life batteries, you can enjoy all the cool features without worrying about it going dead on you. If we don’t offer an extended life battery for the phone you’ve chosen, let us know – and we’ll do our best to get them. After all, the Gorilla Team wants you to be as happy as an ape at a banana buffet!
